Join us at the Philosophical Research Society for a rare screening of Las amantes del señor de la noche (The Lovers of the Lord of the Night), the only feature film directed by renowned actress Isela Vega. Set within a patriarchal provincial household in Mexico, the story follows Venusita, a young woman who falls for a boy from a wealthy family. When his mother separates them by sending him to the United States, Venusita, seeking revenge, turns to a local witch, setting off a chain of dark events.
This esoteric thriller intertwines melodrama, black magic, and a unique exploration of Latin American witchcraft from a female perspective. Isela Vega’s directorial debut promises a powerful cocktail of passion, superstition, and the occult—perfect for audiences intrigued by the mystical and metaphysical.
(Recommended for audiences 18 and older due to mature themes)
